Coconut shell activated carbon is a natural and environmentally friendly adsorbent. The raw material for Huamei coconut shell activated carbon is sourced from mature coconut shells in Southeast Asia, harvested from trees aged five years or older, with ash content <3%, moisture content below 15%, and thickness >5 mm. The shells are dense, free from mould and insect damage.
After rigorous screening and washing, they undergo crushing, carbonisation and high-temperature steam activation processes to produce the final product, which typically takes the form of black granules. Its characteristics include a highly developed microporous structure, powerful adsorption capacity, high hardness, and low ash content.
It is widely used in the recovery of gold and other precious metals, as well as in the purification of pure water, municipal drinking water treatment, water filter cartridges, air purification, cigarette filters and as a catalyst support.

This product is specifically designed for gold recovery processes such as carbon-in-leach (CIL), carbon-in-pulp (CIP) and carbon-in-column (CIC). Advantages of the HMGOLD™ series of coconut shell activated carbon:

Made from 100% natural coconut shells and treated with high-temperature steam activation. It features a highly developed microporous structure and a vast specific surface area, enabling it to effectively remove residual chlorine, organic compounds, odours, colour and heavy metals from water. It is widely used in drinking water purification, industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment and domestic water filtration cartridges.

Challenge: This gold mine, which utilises the CIL process, faced significant gold losses due to the generation of carbon dust. The existing activated carbon lacked sufficient hardness and fractured during agitation, resulting in soluble gold being lost with the tailings.
Solution: The mine switched to HMGOLD™ 7000 high-hardness activated carbon (hardness ≥99%) and optimised the adsorption cycle.
Results: The client’s carbon consumption has now been reduced by 20%, gold content in tailings has decreased, and annual gold recovery rates are projected to increase by approximately 8%. The client has placed four repeat orders.

Challenge: The water treatment plant faced issues with seasonal odours and organic pollutants in the source water. Its existing filtration system was unable to effectively remove these contaminants, leading to complaints from residents.
Solution: An activated carbon filter packed with HMG-CS™1100 was installed downstream of the sand filter.
Results:
Chlorine removal rate in treated water >95%
Odours completely eliminated; COD reduced by 60%
Water quality meets drinking water standards
