In the oil and gas industry, activated carbon is commonly used in amine units to remove H2S and CO2 from hydrocarbon vapours.
During the desulphurisation of MDEA or its complex solutions, foaming and stopping of the amine solution usually occurs, which greatly reduces the purification effect.
HMG-AY950 and HME-AY55 can removes contaminants from the amine solvent and reduces foaming problems.
The left vial is filtered through activated carbon. The right vial was not filtered with activated carbon and the foam was stable for up to 4 hours.
